"Dave Moore is extremely knowledgeable about wood boats of all makes and models. He has an absolute wealth of historical knowledge that comes with over 30 years of experience, and all in northwest Michigan. His focus is on "old school" construction. He is very generous with his time to assist the customer in problem solving. His wealth of knowledge, in wood construction and the mechanical systems, is extensive. Coupled with a nearly unlimited inventory of parts contained in several buildings, he can not only solve your problem, but also provide you with the part you need. Combined with an extensive machine shop, if in the unlikely possibility he does not have the part you need, he can usually make it for you, repair what you have or knows someone who can help. Superior expertise and service
"We interviewed restorers in several states regarding our Century Coronado. After our intial consultation with Northwood Boatworks, we were extremely impressed with Dave Moore's encyclopedic knowledge of all facets of boat restoration. He performed a complete, meticulous restoration of the Coronado. Although we had originally been thinking that a West System bottom would be best, Dave strongly recommended a traditional bottom, which was the option we chose and he was correct--the boat does not leak at all with his traditionally-built bottom. The entire restoration process was positive, with Dave keeping us informed of progress, and always happy to have us visit his shop to see the restoration in process and to review any issues that arose. With the non-original yet traditional bottom, and some other recommended modifications in hull ventilation, the boat is undoubtedly better than new. Since the complete restoration, Dave has provided launching and delaunching services as well as engine maintenance each season. It has been a great pleasure to work with Dave over the years. If you are considering any work on your antique or classic boat, please consult Dave--he is professional, extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and honest. I highly recommend his services without reservations!!! "
